  • Lincolnshire Imp badge

I have several photos of this roadster taken at Stoneleigh around 1989/90? There were many features of this car I liked, and still do: one enduring one is the Lincolnshire Imp badge. I would love to source one of these for my Cabrio.
Does anyone know where one could be sourced from?
    Regards

    Hi Mike
The badge in the photo looks like a Jaguar Drivers Club badge to me.I made enquiries with Lincoln Cathedral shop, and they tell me the Imp is copyright to the Minster and they have never made a car badge.

This looks very much like the roadster of an aqauntance of mind here in Derby. The grill is the give away as i seem to recall it was from a Rover 2000/3500 .The registration 'AVO' also gives credence in that the VO is Nottingham. I'll try and get in touch with the owner to verify that it is his car and if so the details of the badge.

Have a look at ebay item 130561729208 unfortunately it was sold in Aug but you can see a picture of the Lincolnshire Imp that was a car mascot for Ruston & Hornsby Car circa 1920.
Ben Caswell probably not the last word on anything here!!

This club is just great: it was a long shot and I did not really expect a positive response, yet I have three - all spot on.

I suspect you are right: I have laboured under the mistaken idea that this badge was a Lincoln Imp for 20 years! I've had a look at the photo under a magnifying glass, and the Jag owners site, and you are almost certainly correct.
          perhaps Alan can confirm!

The grill was made from three Rover grills to get the depth- I know because I copied it for my own Roadster 15 years ago.
Ben - many thanks for the web surfing. That was an interesting find. I have tried to contact the seller, as it did not look as though the Imp sold. I've also ordered a pewter lapel from Lincoln Minster with a view to making my own Car badge - possibly by cutting the centre out oif a Jag owners club badge and fixing an imp in its place. ....
Unless of course the original Imp mascot turns up............. watch this space.

Many thanks to you all for the positive response.

I spoke to the owner of 'AVO' last night and he confirmed Keiths thoughts that it is in fact a Jaguar Drivers club badge .The car has been off the road for many years due to other projects but remains in the hands of its builder who intends to recommision it in the near future [new brakes and a clutch to free] Interestingly it was a ride in this car that prompted me to build my own Roadster way back in '93 Good luck in the search for the Imp from one 'Yellow Belly' to another

61 Squadron R.A.F has a badge that features the Lincoln Imp. I believe that one of the Lincolnshire Army regiments may also have used the Imp as a cap badge
