My last post contained an error(s) that needs clarifying, it meant to read \"Reason for new propshaft is that the splined final drive of a 1.6 5 speed gearbox is larger than the 1.6 pinto 4 speed. It is the same size as the 2.0litre 4 speed splined end.\"

You may need the 2 litre clutch. I have a spare 2 litre flywheel if you want to do this mod.

        thanks for all the replies.

        some interesting information there
Quite like the idea of looking into the tyre change for a slightly smoother ride.

The engine I have looks like a crossflow engine and it is a vulcan. If that makes a difference.

It looks like it may be quite a major overhaul if I want to go five speed, so i may put that on hold for a while.

I'm still quite keen on going for the beaujeoulais run so I may just invest in some ear plugs.

          Chust a thought:

          I've just done some sums...

If you changed your 205/60's to 185/80's, you should not only get a smoother ride, but your gearing would be raised by around 8%. This would raise your current 50mph up to about 54mph for the same rpm.

With 195/80's, it would be increased by 10.% - so just over 55mph.

(All 'rithmetic to be treated with caution...)
