Hi all.
My (VDO) oil pressure sender recently gave up the ghost. Armed with a shiny new one in my hand I approached the LHS of my nice new injected Pinto, shoehorned in to my Berli. I discovered that the sender, whilst visible, could not be attacked with any of my spanners unless I either removed the starter motor or some of the injection bits and pieces.
Then I had an "AHA!" moment. The ¼" NPTF thread has a 19mm hex on it. I recently obtained the Ford Tappet ball lock nut spanner which is a rather odd shape. It is also 19mm! It slipped behind the sensor comfortably and with the addition of an extension and a ratchet, the job was done on 90 seconds without removing anything.
I expect that most people know this but I was pleased to find an easy solution.
Do I get a Blue Peter badge?
