Now we all know that soldered joints are rubbish in a car wiring harness, they corrode, they embrittle with age and the wires snap next to them. I was surprised and disappointed to find a couple of such joint as OE fitment in the car, especially as they were under the carpet, in the foot well where it gets nice and damp, protected by nothing more than sticky cloth tape. And they had corroded through, which was why things were not working.

Particularly disappointed as this is the VW Passat not the Marlin, nothing so cr*p in the Marlin, as I did the wiring.
