Re: Mark 1 Roadster, can you identify this fuel tank?

So I got the fuel tank off ebay that Cameron recommended and I have fitted in to my car.

It arrived with new sender unit. First job was to paint it. I got some smooth Hammerite and gave it a couple of coats.

I then fitted the new sender unit. It had a twist fit with a gradiated cap.

The tank went back in fairly easily. I did use a long bold to go through the holes in the ply wood so that when I tightened them up the pulled it back down in to the hole it needed to go in.

    It goes here.JPG

I re-fitted the filler elbow with a couple of new hose clips.

I then connected the pipe that goes to the engine bay to the filter and fuel pump.

Will put some fuel back in the tank and check there are no leaks in any of the joints. Hopefully all well.

Just been reading another thread about a vent for an Escort fuel tank. I have fitted my new MG midget tank to my Roaster. Neither the old one or the new one has a vent on it. Is this an issue? As fuel leaves the tank how does the air get in? Funny that this vent post came up now as I have been thinking about this issue.

Has the fuel filler cap got a vent?
