Re: New Gearbox lever thread - revised

I thought that I was the only person left drawing with a pencil. How do you insert attachments? I was thinking a track rod end could be mounted on a threaded rod from the tunnel , stiffened of course . Just thinking not measured. The first time I did this with the Locust the bottom of the gear lever fouled the propshaft. Doh! No internet forums (fora?) then. When I have my Landrovers out of the way I can get on with the Marlin.

When you reply to thread click on the icon (3rd from right at top)

You may need to click the ‘my computer tab’ then choose file

Then upload. It gives you some text [ATTACH] etc before you submit your reply.

Re: New Gearbox lever thread - revised

fascinating thread, very interesting and clever solutions. My mate had a mk1 mini with the long Magic Wand type gear stick and he was able to get an 'off the shelf' after market part to convert it to something a little more useful. I will see what google tells me...

actually found exactly what he used, it was made by SPQR pic below...

It moved left to right as well as back and forth iirc

Hi Adrian. Mine was a LocUst. wooden body on a ladder chassis , built 1990 but locost's is a lovey solution. I just wondered about turning the track rod end 90deg and fixing to the tunnel.

                    Hiya

Just looked at your thought again.

I suppose it would work as long as you braced the tunnel, bit like the handbrake?

                    Mmmmmm?

Well this is one way of stopping you accidentally putting it in reverse.

I get the bar to lock off reverse but wonder what the knob and cable is for ??

Turns out its the actuator for the Accusump system that augments the lube to the engine.
For over 25 years the simplicity and effectiveness of the Accusump has made it the accepted method for providing more continuous oiling and adding longevity to road race and drag race engines. Today supplying oil pressure to the engine before startup for the purpose of pre-lubricating engine components has elevated the Accusump to use on just about any engine or vehicle

Love it, put it in reverse and padlock the lever down, thief deterrent.

                                OK guys here it is.

Note: Only for those who don't mind having their engineering work on show as this sits above the tunnel but for me, I love it.

                                Parts required;

                                1 x 12mm male to female studded rose joint - £6.50
                                2 x 12mm clevis fork - £3.70
                                2 x 12mm clevis eye - £6.56
                                2 x 12mm clevis pin with clip - £1.00
                                3 x 12mm nuts - £1.44
                                1 x 12mm hub bolt - £1.00
                                1 x 12mm studding - £4.89
                                1 x 3" x 1" bar (steel or otherwise ) - found in metal bits
                                1 x gaff piece of 4" x 4" steel plate

                                TOTAL £25.09

Hopefully the picture says it all.

If not ask and I will describe.

Now to be honest without my mate doing all the lathe and boring work It would have taken more than the weekend.
