Unfortunately not. The upper ball joint can catch on the inner wing if you drive over a speed bump quick.

I have the dampers that came with my car - bought 23 years ago and never actually been finished

I had assumed that the dampers had bump and droop stops - do they have the stops inside? - just not positioned right?
Or does the damper not have stops?

If it is just a case of position then I could alter the pickup points for the dampers so that they reach the bump stops before bad things happen

Ok that's around 100 miles on her and the starter motor died.

Drove (in bmw) to Redditch (160 mile round trip) to get another one.

Fitted in 10 mins, working fine.

Been using it as much as possible , using any excuse for a trip out.

Now up to around 200 miles.

Day out to see my mate Andy in Chelmsford tomorrow, another 144 miles round trip.

Would like to put 500 miles on her before Wednesday when we go to Le Mans.

I agree once it’s on the road there will always be a to do list, change this and that, improve this etc.
I will probably be a fine weather driver so a heater isn’t important but as I have the vents already cut in to the scuttle I may as well fit at least a fan.
If you come up with an idea for a bump stop for the front let us all know and so will I. Maybe someone already has.

The Marina front suspension with the mini top arm was designed to use Herald or Mk1 Vitesse rear shocks. They had integral bump and return stops. The reason the top arm hits some Marina based cars inner wing is either the original top nut with external bump plate/reaction pad was used instead of a normal nut or the car was set up too low leaving insufficient room for the top arm to move up and down.

Well that's 144 miles added.

Chelmsford and back.


Got a couple of upgrades while visiting my mate Andy.


Gearstick shortened by 2".


Fuel pipe to carb re-rooted.


Both thanks to Andy.


Trust me to choose the hottest day to take a leisurely drive.


Car went well.


Will require a little tweaking.

Hi Chris
If you are not already sorted, I can recommend A1 mot centre at Taunton, I have used them for years and find they are exellent to deal with, They do not do repairs or sell bits so you always get an honest job!
