Thanks, and a very kind offer Brian.

I'll try and source one myself when the time comes - I have another kit (a Sierra - Pinto - based NG TF, sorry for swearing...) so it would make sense for me to build up my own specific tools.

    Cheers.

Donnie, if it boosts your confidence, I changed one at the side of the road once on a 2l Pinto in a Transit van when it went on me. Took about half an hour. Its also the only OHC engine I know that doesn't bend the valves if it breaks, unless it has a wild cam of course.
Your hardest part is getting in to it on the Marlin.
      Best of luck, Hugh.

        Re: Cam belt, 2.0L Pinto.

        Cheers, Hugh.

I don't anticipate the job being a difficult one as such, I just hoped it could be done without having to remove the crank pulley. Also I wanted to check on any potential snags - such as needing a Torcx tool!
I have done belts before (Austin - very straight-forward), and have completely rebuilt engines (2.5 GT6 etc), so I'm not apprehensive about tackling engine jobs as such, but sod's law tells me I'll be hauling on that crank bolt - with hardly any space for an extension bar - for hours...

Might wait for the belt to snap...

        Cheers.

The bolt is only, from memory, about 3/8" and torqued up to 40-44 lbs ft. It should then pull off easily with the help of a couple of screwdrivers as it's not on a taper but just stopped turning with a key.

Thanks again - that's really helpful.

(I'll find out where you live if it goes pear-shaped...)
