That is a good deal. I can understand the reluctance of tyre dealers to fit the tyres because I presume tubes are required to avoid the air from escaping around the spokes. Tyres used to be available in tubed or tubeless types. The inside of the tyre was smoother in the tubed version to avoid damaging the tube.
However I have used tubes in Landrover tyres for years in arduous conditions on trials without too many problems.
As a matter of interest, my tyres are date stamped.
