  • We didn't go to Coldridge Vintage Steam Fair

This morning we got up nice-n-early to join a steam and vintage festival at Coldridge. Chairs, umbrella and sarnies packed, GPS programmed and off we go – or maybe not? Severe misfiring when backing out of the garage. It had happened before, just needs a quick blast (said He), drove a few miles, getting worse. Sensibly decided (after many digs in the ribs from Urszula) to return home.

With the 2.3 DOHC it’s not too easy to access the spark plugs, so a lot of careful dismantling and inspection eventually revealed this very odd looking plug-top? Initial thoughts maybe inner electrode/ceramic seal leaking? But I think it may be degradation of the weird plug-cap rubber and/or carbon leaking down from the suppresser HT lead? They're both looking a bit worse for wear.

Managed to source 4 new plugs and a Bosch replacement set of plug leads, sadly not in time to fit & continue our drive to Coldridge, so our day out has been lost.

    Now waiting for the postman…..
