Hi Folks. Have a 1984 reg Berlinetta. Was constructed with the usual bolt down hardtop. Have a new hood to fit for the coming summer as well. What sort of over-centre latches can be fitted so I can remove the hardtop more easily and can I fit similar to the soft-top when I fit it. I think the more modern Marlins have some sort of over-centre latches fitted. Can these still be obtained and can they be fitted to the older Berlinetta? Cheers, Alan.

The hood on our Berlinetta has over centre latches fitted but they don't hold the cant rail down tight enough in heavy rain so I use wing nuts on two bolts to prevent rain leaking over the windscreen. I don't know where the latches came from. Even if you fit fit latches to the front of the hardtop there are still bolts to remove at the back. You could make it easier by using wing nuts. I don't use my car in the winter so the hood is always fitted.

My Berli has 3 over centre catches along the cant rail, with hooks on the windscreen surround. I didn't build the car, so don't know the source, but it's been on the road over 30 years, so might not be relevant anyway.
It does pull down tightly to prevent water ingress, so maybe that's down to the type of self adhesive foam lining the underside of the soft top cant rail
