That was the year - 1984

    1984 Compton Verney.jpg
I've pulled a few pics to show a number of MOC events 40 years ago, one from each location, details are in the file names.

Fantastic pictures David, really capture the time including the non-smart phone pictures back from the local chemists It's easy to forget just how big the kit car scene was back in the 80's.

I like the pictures David. The weather looks much better than we had this year. It was before my time since I didn't join the club until 1993.

as a double check Ignoring filenames.....

INFO - photo 3 is Newark, recognise the buildings.
next to last photo is Fleetwood. I recognise the houses on the hill in the background.

Yes, I fondly remember those days of getting 60 Marlins and having one of the biggest stands at Stoneleigh, Fleetwood overflowing the car park, on so on.

Things have changed SO MUCH since then, across all of life and living. 1984 - no mobile phones, no internet, no ANPR, no ULEZ, no global warming all over the news (?), no speed bumps everywhere.

Car-wise - simple MOT for kit cars, Bosch 'K' fuel injection, Carbs, first digital (i.e. CPU) electronic engine management would arrive in Ford Granada in 1985. (I think that was first, maybe wrong)

The M63 was still there.... (yes it totally disappeared !!!)

          Correct sir !

From the top it is Compton Verney, Hindhead, Newark, Stoneleigh, Green Man, Fleetwood, Capesthorne

Should anyone have any more old pics which I have not seen, I should be delighted to receive them to add
          to the Archive collection.

As your photos are a reminder of how well attended kit car shows used to be back in the day I thought I'd mention an event listing shown on "The Great British Car Journey" website. They are inviting kit car owners to attend their Museum on Sunday 27th July and also have a link for Kit Car Clubs to get in touch. As a museum it really seems to have captured people's love for older cars and it is good to see they want to include Kit Cars in that nostalgia journey. Perhaps this is an event that we could promote to club members and other kit car clubs, all helping to keep the interest in alternative cars alive

That sounds like a good plan. I have sent them an email. Instead of going to Sheldon we could visit this event instead. They will probably need people to book in and I have asked them how soon we have to do that. It is likely to cost £ 10 each which is a saving of £ 8.50 on the normal admission fee.
              Thanks for posting that.

I have a reply from Great British Car Journeys.
Discounted tickets at £10 are available up to a week before the event. On the day, it is still possible to gain entry for £15 in a kit car.
