Marlin SW Meets 2025
Over the last few years and especially post lockdown “one make” car shows and meets have experienced dwindling numbers and multi marque meets have started up. One such meet is organised by The South West Classic Car Club. It is a “facebook only” group and their motto is All Wheels Welcome!
Since their move to Trago Mills Newton Abbot this year, the extra space in the large overflow car park allocated for the club has enabled the SWCCC club to invite other clubs to attend, so in 2024 I requested for the Marlin Owners to attend and we were accepted.
At the first 2024 Trago meet 5 Marlin cars attended but for the rest of the season there were usually only 2 Marlins there, one of which was mine, until on the very last meet when there were 5 Marlins present.
So looking ahead to 2025 listed below in column 2 are the dates for the next SWCCC meets at Trago Mills Newton Abbot. Usually on the last Sunday of the month unless a Bank Holiday requires a one day shift to that.
The top overflow parking area is a large tarmac hardstanding. There is a coffee and burger bar at the parking area and there are several other food outlets at the adjacent main Trago store, or you can bring your own picnic.
Timing is totally flexible so come and go as you please. Notionally 10:00hrs - 15:00 hrs.
They charge just £2 at the gate on entry which goes towards running expenses. Any money left over at the end of the season is donated to one of the SSWCCC nominated charities.
At the last meet of 2024 there were at least 200 vehicles of various types, makes and ages, on display to look at. Remember the SWCCC club motto “All Wheels Welcome”, so recent meets have included BMC Minis, Mazda MX5s, Fords of various vintage, Hot Rods, an Army Jeep , Ford Mustangs, a steam car, an American school bus, a Penny Farthing bicycle and of course our Marlins!
So please put these dates in your diaries and come and help show the flag for the Marlin Owners Club in the South West.

I strongly recommend that you register (its free) with the SWCCC fb group (Search fb for “South West Classic Car Club”) as it is a very active group and you will get up to the minute info. For example they plan to have another well organised run up through Devon next year. So watch that page!
As a final footnote the SWCC, which first started at Chepstow in Wales, continue to hold meets at Hanley Farm, Chepstow. The dates of their 2025 meets are also shown above in column 1. So if you llive further north and Trago Newton Abbot is too far for you, then why not enjoy similar company and interest at that meet.
Don’t forget! First meet at Trago Mills Newton Abbot is on 30th March 2025!
Look forward to seeing you there!
Peter.
