  • Drive It Day

Drive It Day on Sunday saw us on a run out in the Peak District in wonderful sunny weather. We did about 45 miles but didn't see many classics on the trip. Our route took us via Rowsley, Chatsworth Park and Monyash where a huge gathering of bikers were taking advantage of the weather.
How many of you were out in your Marlins?

We went to Prescott Hiil Climb for round two of the British Hillclimb Championship. Glorious day and lots of superb machines competing on the hill. Saw several spectators’s cars with the Drive it Day plaques.

It was Brando’s first trip out following engine top-end overhaul, new head gaskets, carb rebuild and new rear shock absorbers. Everything worked properly (phew).

Another five years have gone by so it was time to fit a new cambelt and while the hoses were off I replaced the sticking thermostat. The heater should now be more effective.

I went to my usual monthly breakfast meet of the Apple County Kit Car Club at Sweet's cafe outside Glastonbury. Lovely weather, car went well and there wee 6 of us gathered, droverpete in his new Cabrio, myself in my Hunter and James in his Ferrari.

I took Gwynevere for a short run out to test the new thermostat. Success! Engine is now running much warmer than it was on Saturday with an effective heater.
