    Marlin Cars

Okay, asking for a colleague of mine! Does anyone know if anything is happening with Marlin Cars, specifically the Sportster? Mate would love to build one but there is very little info now. I said that I would ask on here, if anyone has any further details!

Some time ago Terri Matthews advertised quite a few end of stock items in Pitstop, among which were various specific Cabrio and Sportster parts. As the company was for sale at the time and the last (diesel) Sportster demonstrator went up for sale a few months later, it seems self evident that the new owner received little apart from designs and manufacturing rights when he took the project over. Having spoken to Kevin Richardson several times over the last year or two, the impression I have is that he is not likely to market any more Sportster or Cabrio kits, but he may well be able to supply parts. I don't think he carries much in the way of stock, supply would likely be "pre-order and wait" a while. The Marlin project is one branch of Kevin's business, but at present not the mainstay of it. Having said that, on my last visit there were two Sportsters in the Unit, one for a spot of pre-MOT work, the other for a spot of tweaking. I would suggest that your friend advertise his desire to purchase a Sportster in our club magazine, on the Facebook Marlin Enthusiasts page and on this forum, with the tag "anything considered". Unfinished (and unstarted) kits DO come up from time to time, and some older ready built cars in need of TLC or even a full rebuild also. By advertising as above, the widest range of informed sources will be reached.
