    In car Infotainment.

If I have to drive my utila-break Skoda any reasonable distance unaccompanied, I use the Radio or the CD / MP3 player quite a lot. The system works fairly well, even if the speakers are not exactly top of the range. The Marlin, of course, has its own soundtrack, but on a long run I would still like the option of cruising with some form of infotainment. Thanks to Peter Boydell I have an excellent screen mount for my phone which runs Google Maps within my sightline, but the Radio set up is a source of considerable frustration.
Firstly....Currently the aerial is the "standard" Marlin mast mounted passenger-side front running up the front edge of the Windscreen frame. Does anyone have trouble free Radio from an aerial in this location?
Secondly...the equipment doesn't appear to store pre-sets, (complete power shut off when turned off?) and the auto-scan just winds through the whole of the selected band without stopping. Could this be a fault within it, or is the aerial likely to be the cause?
Thirdly, thanks to Phil McGrath I have a replacement radio set with DAB capability, which will require a new aerial....so I'm wondering if a shark's fin device would work instead?
Finally, (for now) , the current setup does not support CD /MP3, which I would like....does it matter that in the Marlin the centre console has the Radio mounted neither horizontal or vertical, but somewhere in between ?
Working...
