    Berlinetta petrol tank

Hi folks. My Berli has a Mk2
    Escort Van petrol tank.
Any idea what volume it is? Is it & gallons or 9 gallons?
    Cheers, Alan.

We have not managed to get more than 7 and a half gallons in my Berli (years ago). Our current one has not run out and we do not risk going lower than quarter on the gauge. I think 8 gallons is the max but others may know better.

Thanks. That is about what I thought. Think it is about a 7.5 gallon tank. Cheers, Alan.

I found my old Escort tank was starting to corrode. I often drive very long journeys and get fed up stopping for fuel roughly every 180 - 200 Miles. My gauge was not too accurate at low levels and I'm not brave enough to try for 210-220miles. My tank only held just over 7 gallons.
I contacted a company called Compbrake. The make standard 50 litre aluminium tanks. I had to change their tank width by 10mm for it to fit between the original tank support members. They produced a lovely 50 litre tank out of 4mm aluminium which fits like a glove. They will fit tank outlets and breather pipes exactly where they are needed; just send them the drawings.
The tank is held in place by two chunky cushioned straps to the original bolt holes.
I have been brave and pushed it to 300 miles but I tend to chicken out at around 290.
They send it with a tank sender which they will match to your own system. I just fitted my old VDO sender which adjusts to the new tank depth.
One just needs to sit down before paying the invoice as it is not a cheap job. Expect in the region of £280, but I think it has been well worth it.
I now have three fuel stops from Land's End to John O' Groats versus 5 before. Maybe beat my 15 hours start to stop next year??

Looks like a well made tank and at today's values, good for the price you mentioned.
