    Berlinetta Cortina Mk 3 brakes

Good afternoon from sunny Cyprus. Reference the above topic. My brake pedal has always been soft with long travel, whilst they do stop me I am looking how to harden the pedal. Find calipers at sometime have been replaced with slightly larger pistons but still have ( just fitted new) original master cylinder, no change in fact could be a little softer. Would replacing cylinder with slightly larger piston be the answer, have been looking at landrover Defender or 110 cylinders. Has anyone done this or other swaps and are they straight forward. Thanks Brian

Best advice I could give Brian. Try to keep it standard. Change the calipers to standard mk3/mk4 Cortina, make sure you have the correct master cylinder and start from there.

Best to bench bleed the dual circuit master cylinder before fitting to get all the air bubbles out. Then fit and bleed the whole system as usual. You will be amazed how much of a firm pedal you can achieve with this method.
