I didnt remove the balljoints, just undid the inner tierod with some big pipe wrench.

I found the ball joints, which are peened, were a real pain to sepperate. I fixed the new bush using the original self tapping screw but it wasn't enough. I think I ended up drilling another hole and adding a second screw. Maybe I was just unlucky.Originally posted by A_Hogg View PostMaybe I was lucky but don't recall replacement being that much of an issue once rack is off the car.
But....
In the end I was very lucky as I found a NOS rack on Ebay for not a lot of money so used that instead! So now at least I have a spare.

Perhaps we should use port and starboard to determine or simply nearside/offside! Maybe I was lucky but don't recall replacement being that much of an issue once rack is off the car.

Well done. That bush is an absolute pain to do as I know from experience. Mine fell out again and I had to improvise the fixing of it!Originally posted by wilkywoo View Post
Sorry I meant the nearside, I found the correct bush and changed it yesterday. All well with the steering now.

But says right as well! English language can be a pain. I guess he meant right as in correct not as in left or right!Originally posted by A_Hogg View PostHe actually states nearside one

I would be tempted to strip the steering rack down and see what is going on....

Steering rack nearside bush
Anyone know where to get the right one from, loads of play in nearside front wheel so took the gaitor off the tie rod and there is no bush in there so flapping around.
I can find them for lots of cars but not for the marina rack?Tags: None
