  • King Pin Bushes

MOT time and my Roadster failed on wear in the king pin bushes. Any ideas on a source of new bushes? It's a Marina front end so I assume similar to Morris Minor.

    Thanks in anticipation.

    Re: King Pin Bushes

If it's Marina set up there not actually king pin and bushes in the old sense, the set up is as you have correctly described as similar, but not the same components as the moggie 1000.
It comprises of swivel upright, top ball joint and lower link, sometimes described as lower trunion. I always keep a new pair of top ball joints and lower links in my garage in case of MOT failure, often you can resolve the problem by replacing the above providing the screw thread on the bottom of the upright is not excessively worn. I obtained these from my local motor factors and aladins cave, Auto Spares Kippax (ASK) Roger Fold, High Street, Kippax, Leeds, LS25 7AZ, West Yorks, Telephone 0113 2862793. If I can assist in getting these parts for you give me a shout, my phone number is 07814 008434

Make sure its the trunion wear that the Mot failed as it could be the bushes for the fulcrum pin that are worn and they are a lot cheaper and easier to replace. Jack the car so that the wheel is just off the ground then use a lever to crank the wheel up and down while checking what is moving.
Ie the trunion to upright or the fulcrum pin to trunion.
Ben Caswell probably not the last word on anything here!!

            Re: King Pin Bushes

Thanks all for your sound advice as usual, I ended up letting the local garage do the work, i'd spent winter replacing the rear axle, rear bushes etc so didn't relish more time underneath!

Parts came from Earlpart, seemed to have plenty in stock

            Cheers
