I like doing the mag and promise I won't change anything. I do take some stuff off the forum sometimes, but mostly for the Sportster guys but I may take some other bits now as there are many who probably still don't realise the benefits of the forum. I am delighted that it has taklen off the way it has and is used for the purposes for which it was intended.

I applaud Phil's honesty in his comments - although I don't necessarily agree with them. If a previous member has become disenchanted enough with the club to leave, then it can only be a good thing that the reasons are brought (albeit a little harshly in this case...) to the club's attention. Most people would just walk away and keep quiet - that might be 'kinder', but it's not really helpful.

It is a truism, however, that the club can't be all things to all peeps. Given that the club's greatest strength is the input from its members, I think it's reached a pretty good compromise between information and banter, especially as it simply can't print what it ain't given. Yes, I too would like to see lots more 'technical' articles, but I also derive great pleasure from reading about the trials (yep, they're usually trials...) of everyday life and Marlin ownership!

But there's a LOT more to this club than even the mag (the mag is the icing on the cake...), and I do hope that Phil - whether as a member or not - will continue to peruse the forum and offer his genuinely useful tips as he has done above (I refer especially to his first posting!). Better still, the next time you do a 'job' on your car, write an article about it and let us know.

This club is SUPERB value.

Well what a can of worms was opened up here.
Sue,I never criticised your running of the magazine, I pased comment on some of it's content, my thoughts only.
I have not shouted at anyone,that's for bullies.
And for social misfits like myself, I don't want to know about other peoples lives, so, how about this for a suggestion, why can't we have a TECHNICAL and HELPFUL HINTS page leaving the other pages,roadster, berlinetta, etc to those folk who want to go down that path?
So if you think for one second that I was having a go at you, then in front of everyone reading this, I apologise from the heart (fuel pump). Let this be an end to the PINTO MISFIRE.

Sue, you are so right.
I feel guilty and will attempt to send an article in about my present experience which could be an award winning re-make of Flanders and Swann's "The gas man came to call"!

The first picture shows my simple plan - to install 5 speeds. The second shows the stage I have reached at the moment! The story will continue in due course on the Berli messages and of course Pitstop.

I have no gripes with your new floor - it looks nice. If Phil had read the whole thing he would have noted that there was a link to dashboard material.

I'm off to hew some galvanised plate into a suitable plug for an enormous hole in my firewall....

To all thanks for your replies.

I have refitted the cylinder head and it was still missing at no 4cylinder. I have the cause of the problem due to a seal leaking between the brake servo and the master cylinder of which i used a rear brake salve cylinder outer rubber and made up a gasket to fit between the servo and the master cyl and it works ok. If only I had tried or sent my artical on the forum before wasting time and money but as always panic sets in to try and fix and you can not see the wood from the trees.
