  • type 9 gearbox?

I am fitting a 1600 crossflow engine to my marlin. I have been offered a 5 speed gearbox from an 1800cc CVH engined Sierra. Does anybody know if this gearbox and bellhousing etc is the same as those fitted to the 1600cc or 2000cc pinto engined Sierras.

        Hi Roger
I fitted a type9 to my crossflow, there are a few simple problems i.e. change the clutch, modify the plate between the bellhousing and engine to accomadate the starter(suggest trying the backplate from the cvh),, grind off the bolt that fouls the clutch release arm, modify the prop shaft, the gear stick is farther back so the hole in the tunnel needs to be made larger. Any problems e mail me on rob-53uk at tiscali.co.uk did you find engine mountings???
