  • Pinto Radiator Fan

I am not experiencing overheating, but as I am contemplating a bit of tuning that will push the power up I feel it prudent to tune the coolimg system as well. I read in the Haynes manual that a larger fan was offered for this engine, but they are difficult to find. I was wondering if any member had one that they would sell ?
The spec. is 6 blade 14inch diameter, recognisable from the standard 7 blade 12.5 dia.original. If you can help please e mail me on [email protected]

Hi john, You are much better off junking the standard fan and using an electric one. The one on the engine takes some power adn a larger one will take even more.

      Hi Cameron,
You are right, but there does not seem a lot of room to fit one. Can anyone recommend a make of electric fan that would fit ? I am using a Viva radiator

        Hi John

There is room (or should be) for a Kenlowe "pusher" in front of the rad, mine fits just with the grill up against the front of the fan

          Hi John,
this is the setup on our 2l Fiat engined Roadster. The fan is an 11" Pacet from Europa and fits between the steering rack and the radiator,an origional Land Crab rad. There has been no overheating problems and the thermostatic switch seldom cuts in except in heavy traffic slow speed situations despite nearly 150bhp. I've fitted an over-ride switch also so I can switch the fan on manually as well. It's important that there is no leakage of air round the rad. i.e. all the airflow goes through it, and I have fitted shields to try and achieve this.

            Hi John,

I have a spare from my Sierra GLS donor which I am keeping but you are quite welcome to use it to measure up if you think it might be suitable (I am only at Prestwood - Gt. Missenden). I managed to squeeze it behind an Escort radiator, in front of a Sierra 2.0 DOHC

              Hi John,
I have a Sierra 2.0i viscous fan that I do not want. You are welcome to it for just the postage!
              Cheers
