  • Clutch cable

    Hi All

Does anybody know if I can get a standard clutch cable for my Pinto engined roadster? The clutch pedal has a clevis pin attachment instead of the self adjusting mech from the donor Sierra. If it is standard a part no would be handy otherwise I guess it's down the speedycables route.

The standard cable doesn't have attachment to take a clevis pin, have a look at Burton Power on the web as they do a cable for Escort Mk1 with Cosworth YB engine [based on pinto block] that might be what you're looking for.It also comes with its own adjusting screw thread and lock nuts. Hope that helps!

        Patrick.
My Roadster has a Pinto with a Type 9 5sp box and I bought an xtra long 1000mm cable has to help clear the exhaust manifold.
There is one on ebay 250232703404 selling by RALLYE-SPORT-LONDON based in Rugby this company has short at 800mm as well. The lenghts are from the end of the clutch adjusting thread end to the shoulder of the plastic end for the bulkhead.Mine has a ball type end at the clutch fork end and a round clevis hole at the clutch pedel end.The cable are about £14.00 each.

Hi Patrick I have one sitting on the workbench - from a 1987 1.8 sierra. As I'm installing a V8 with hydraulic clutch it is surplus to requirements.

Cheers Bob, I hadn't clicked about the extra clearance length required, thanks for the info.

Hi Cameron I have just gone and ordered one, typical. Does yours have an adjuster at the clutch fork end or does it use the Sierra auto adjust quadrant?

Thanks all, the forum triumphs again.

Ordered, fitted and working. Escort mk2 or Cortina mk 4 are the correct types.
