The following is the reply to my email to the Roadster advert on ebay as I asked for the details.

FOR SECURITY REASONS, I DO NOT WANT TO PUT THE CHASSIS NO ON THE NET, BUT I CAN CONFIRM TO YOU THE CAR IS A MK3, AND WAS BUILT WITH A MK 4-5 CORTINA PINTO ENGINE, THE GEARBOX IS FROM A MK 2 ESCORT,4 SPEED, WITH THE PROPER MODIFIED PROP SHAFT. IN MY 5 YEAR OWNERSHIP THE CAR HAS PASSED ITS MOT 1ST TIME WITHOUT THE NEED FOR A RETEST, I AM SELLING DUE TO BUYING A TVR. THANKS FOR YOUR QUESTION.

Fortunately the Brown and Cream one had a photo where you could see a secondary tag with the numbers on it. Bingo its another new entry.
I didnt think it looked that bad and would assume as the numbers have been put where you can see them it probably has been for a MOT at some time. Need to see the log book(V5c)really.
