Door straps - replacement

On my Berli, straps stop the doors opening too far, but obviously do little to prevent them swinging in the wind, hitting you in the legs as you are getting in & out etc.

I suspect this might be an old 'onion', but I couldn't find anything on a Search of the Forum. Has anyone found a more mechanical substitute to control the doors more reliably?

If you get a chance have a look at a lotus + 2 as my father has one and the mechanical door stays would be perfect for a berli as may put some on my berli one day. think they are off a rover 2000 rear doors from memory
