  • Axle U-bolts and lowering blocks

Grayston engineering stopped making these some time ago. There may be some left on the shelves of motor factors, if there are any I have failed to locate any.

Escort ones DO NOT FIT. Ok got that? the u-bolts are thicker and slightly the wrong radius at the top. They can be made to fit with a little bending and by drilling out the holes through which they fit.

The lowering block itself is a different matter, the locating lugs are the wrong diameter. Again if you have access to a large lathe with a four jaw chuck, they can be machined to fit.

So having wasted two days on the above...has anyone any ideas as to where these parts can be found in future. The U-bolts I can get made, but the lowering blocks?

OK sorry for the rant. Escort ones will fit but they require a lot of work to make them do so. they are however rather more robust than the Marina ones being made of thicker bar. Wee Beastie is now back on the road.
