How is one supposed to change an engine mount on a Berlinetta? The lower nut cannot be reached with socket or spanner, without shortening the spanner, or cutting a hole in the in the lower side panel. I recently cut off the rubber mount leaving the flat plate and bolt insitu then drilled through the stud until it dropped out.

Was the car really designed with this intention?

Is it possible to but engine mounts with extended studs?

    Re: Engine Mounts

    Hi Roger.
I can slip a ½" drive ratchet and the correct size socket down inside the slotted mount. (I assume you mean the one welded to the chassis.)
My bonnet is the traditional gull wing type and so the side panels lift with the top. They are fixed to the top panel with pianno hinges. Yu will need to remove the side panel to gain access to the nuts.
I have fitted CBS largest rubber engine mounts to this and the Pinto is held firmy enough.
    Good luck.
