  • Classifieds - Why wait?

Why can't we have a classifieds section on the Forum so that we can advertise when it suits us rather than wait three months? - or longer if you miss the deadline. It is normal practice for other club sites.

    Re: Classifieds - Why wait?

I would advertise earlier but it's a deliberate decision not to advertise on the website before the magazine comes out as not everyone has access to the website.

You have to wait 2 months in between magazines and it's up to members to get copy to me on time!

In this modern age of technology and with the advent of a new young Chairman, the above decision could be changed but we have historically felt it fairer to restrict the releasing of classifieds until the mag drops through the door and then at least everyone has the same chance to read the mag. It's up to them if they don't read it I'm afraid.

I think it would be a good idea to use the forum for classifieds as will help members to sell the parts more quickly and the people looking for parts to get them and get the cars up and running fasters as for waiting for the Pitstop mag the summer will be over by the time you get sorted. And for those that have not got internet will proberbly not have a letter box either for there post. So Lee you get the green light from me.

Totally agree, pitstop is as quick as the postman, big city, quick delivery,rural..whenever....... so why not use the website for any classifieds so anyone requiring something can get instant access especially as time is of the essence, as the summer is short enough!!...what summer?

I have already sent comments to Sue, but.
If people selling parts and cars have to wait possibly 2 months or more to advertise is Pitstop they will use ebay for quick sale and larger marketplace.
This will unnecessarliy dilute the quantity of parts and cars specifically advertised within the club for the club members benefit.
On line classifieds would be beneficial to all members but its full benefit relies on members posting parts for sale and more importantly marking the parts as sold at the end of a successful transaction.

I think eBay is the best place anyway - it is their business after all. With specialist parts there is a good chance that more that one person will want them, so it is fairer on both the buyer & the seller to auction the item to the highest bidder.

If you're competent to drive you should be competent to access the Internet and it costs next to nothing these days - less than a tank of fuel will see you online..

              Re: Classifieds - Why wait?

We should be able to say when we have put something on Ebay which may be of interest to members. I have just missed the Pitstop deadline yet again! So my YKC Roadster will be on Ebay shortly!! (If I added a picture would that make this posting a classified or merely information?).
