Re: Cabrio replacement/MX5?
Alan,
Dont do it unless your changing your job to a hairdresser. I spent a few miles behind the wheel of a MX5 and found the drive quite boring really not much feedback through the steering good thing it was rear wheel drive. Also used a MGF again quite normal but good having the engine in the back. Best bet if you want to sell your car is a mk1/mk2 Lotus elise its simlair money to a mx5/mgf and the best handling car you will ever drive and they are very fast.
Elise models are MK1 produced from 1996 to 2005 using a rover k series engine that has been built for lotus and all the usual head problems sorted. The hood is quite hard to fit and can take upto 3 minutes to fit and its quite hard to get into with the roof on.
MK2 2005-2006 uses still the rover k series but has a better roof and a lower door sill to get into it.
MK2 2006- to present uses a Toyota engine again built by lotus much better engine.
Elises price come in as little as 6k for a mk1 to a excellent mk2 2007 for 15k
Like I say you will not get a better handling car

Re: Cabrio replacement/MX5?
Ooh, no anti-MX5 bias here, then!
I haven't driven one, and wouldn't choose to. Everything I read about them reaffirm what a good-handling car it is, almost certainly the best for the money.
But, jeez, it looks soooo boring. Dull, dull, dull. It's like a schoolboy design for a sportscar. Worse, it's like a schoolgirl's...
Other than that it's brill
