I am hopefully moving home in 3 weeks and I have the opportunity to get into the garage of the new place before the move so I want to paint the floor in advance. Can anyone recommend a particular product or perhaps, more importantly, warn me off another?

Re: Garage floor paint
I did mine several years ago in Grey from B&Q but I can not think of the make (red/black tin)I gave mine 2 coats and last year gave it another coat and finished the tin. My garage floor is 18ftx12 and used 10-lts for 3 coats. It looks good and easy to keep clean and stops oil & water soaking in to the floor. The only thing that does hapen is when you park the Marlin in the garage after a run and the tyres are hot/sticky then come to move off later the paint can stick to the tyres.

Re: Garage floor paint
Important! If you are painting new concrete 1) Let it REALLY dry out thoroughly first, weeks rather than days 2) Use a primer sealer on the concrete before the actual floor paint. Failure to follow either of these points and you will be peeling it up in sheets before too long!
The garage in my new build had been used for storing cement and plaster for all the other houses around the site so had a liberal coating of this embedded in the surface. I had to use a wire brush and vacuum cleaner before applying the primer which took ages but, apart from high spots worn by the jack etc, it has stood the test of time. I think the paint was made by International who make all the yacht stuff and I bought it at B&Q. I used two coats of primer and two coats of floor paint. Rather expensive but you only get one chance on a new floor!
Hint! Keep four squares of hardboard (I use the white coated type) and put it on the floor so it is under the wheels when you park. This will help stop the paint sticking to the tyres :-) Peter.

Re: Garage floor paint
IMHO you can't beat the 2 part epoxy based professional floor paints. These are the ONLY ones that will resist chemicals such as brake fluid and thinners. That's why the pros use it.Mk2 SWB Marina Roadster with a 1800 Fiat Twin Cam engine and 5 speed Abarth gearbox built in 1987
