  • fuel pipe

    Hello All,
I've been doing some rewiring on the rear of my Berli, whilst under the car I noticed that the rubber pipe from the fuel tank to the filler cap is very perished, and after what happened to Lee ( It's right above the exhaust ) I was a little shocked.
I believe the tank is a Ford Escort Van type and the filler cap is the motor bike clip down type, possibly two different sizes in diameter, Is this pipe a standard size pipe and does anyone know where I can obtain a new rubber pipe.
    Many thanks
    Terry

    Hi Terry

Have a look in the links page in case there's someone. GM Capri Spares are quite good as are the Old Parts Store.......

        Hi Terry
Yes the fuel tank is from an Escort Van. The fuel filler cap is from a Triumph Spitfire.
let me know if you get the pipe 'cos mine needs repair too.

          Re: fuel pipe

Alastair, I've been talking with some guys on the ford forum and one or two seem to think that the pipe from a mk3 escort van is very similar and so may fit, I'm going to look in to this but it may not be for a few days. You may wont to look in to this yourself (it maybe quicker)The one thing that might put a fly in the ointment is if the tank side of the pipe is a different diameter to the triumph cap side we'll see.

              Re: fuel pipe

Due to the different caps and positions of tank you will probably find an origional hose will be the wrong shape and length. Have a look at the flexible filler hoses on Car Builders Solutions
              http://www.cbsonline.co.uk/fuel-filler-hose-79-c.asp
              Also reducers at

              Hope this helps

                      Hi

I recently made a hose up for my roadster as bought a new filler cap. I work at a company called elaflex they supply all the hoses etc for road tankers and petrol pumps and the ZVA nozzle. I used an off cut we have of some petrol delivery hose measured it cut and clip it with jubilees. This has worked well and as the stuff is the best you can get it will take years to perish. I am sure if you no what diameter you need I may be able to get some offcuts at a good price and send them to you.

                      Hope this helps
