When I tried to renew my Marlin tax disc on line, I was refused on the grounds that I had no insurance. But I have. My insurers confirm it but it seems that the details had not been entered up onto the database. They promised to rectify the situation but it may take up to 72 hours.
However the very same thing happened to me a couple of years back on another car. Only this time there was a mistake in the Registration No. The effect was the same. The car was shown as uninsured.
So this isn't a once in a million occurrence. It obviously happens all the time.
Now the police seize about 500 'uninsured' vehicles a day after checking on this same Motor Insurance Database. With any luck they may not crush your's before you have had a chance to prove to them that it is in fact insured but ....
So, especially if your insurance renewal date differ from your tax disc renewal date, you might think it worth while just to check.
