  • New carjacking technique - Applies to reversing away from a parked position.

You walk to the car, unlock it and get inside. You
start the engine put it into reverse.

When you look into the rear view mirror to back out of your space, you notice a piece of paper stuck to the middle of the rear window. You stop and jump out of your car to remove that paper (or whatever it is) that is obstructing your view.
When you reach the back of your car, that is when the carjackers appear out of nowhere, jump into your car and take off.

And lady drivers? Your handbag is in the car.
Male drivers? Your jacket with your wallet is in the car. So now the carjacker has your car, your home address, your money, and your keys...

And so easy! Mind you, I doubt anyone would be stupid enough to hijack a Marlin. It's a bit of a giveaway on the CCTV. And no-one would want to steal my V reg White, Diesel, Escort Estate. Would they? Please take it....I could do with replacing it!

.....must have mythed that email when it came round.
Seriously, it's thing to consider......the only bits of paper I get stuck with are those b****y annoying flyers that people stick under your wiper arm and you don't notice until you're driving away. The latest one was a "join our gym" from the gym I attend, whilst I was parked outside the gym, and clearly showing a gym car park pass ......doh !

              Lol

Mmmmmmmmm. If you are facing a wall so you have to reverse out you will be between the carjacker and your open door if you are standing by the rear window!

Golden rule, if you leave the car, take the ignition key with you!

It's interesting to note how few people lock the car when leaving it to pay for petrol at the kiosk. That's a real risk if ever there was one and will probably invalidate any insurance claim. Peter.
