    Re: roadster fuel tank

Hi Rob, as you may remember I made a new tank for mine with a larger capacity. I believe that the Ford Escort tank origionally fitted is still available but I'm not sure from who. Is your's rusted through on the bottom? If so and the rest is OK then it may be possible to weld in a new bottom.

hi there Hugh,The tank is generally past its best,do you know which model of escort the tank originally came from,I notice on ebay that there are some plastic tanks available, possibly designed for marine use.

Hi Rob, if you have a look at the build manual on the disc it gives details of it. I'd think twice about using a plastic one, especially as your thinking of trialing, it prob. wouldn't pass scrutiny.

Give Northern radiators a ring on 01274 745 000 and see if they can help.

The tank suggested was for a ford escort van

Same tank was used on Mk 1 and Mk 2 EScort vans and estates.

I someone brave enough to look at manufacturing a batch of custom tanks. Hugh has a good drawing as a starting point.

                Could try

and Hadrian Panels also list the tank but are stubbornly refusing to reply to a price/availability enquiry...!

                  Re: roadster fuel tank

I posted a similar question late last year, which you may find. I could not get an Escort Van/Estate tank anywhere new - lots of places list them, and some even took my order, but all came back saying nolonger available. My problem was someone had drilled through the seam, so in the end I repaired it with an epoxy based petrol tank repair compound. I think all you can do is keep an eye out for secondhand ones, but I am sure there would be a market for someone with the right tooling to do a short run.
