  • Coach Trimming / Tonneau Covers in Northants

    Hi guys,

I'd like to get a Tonneau cover made up for the Gooster by a local trimmer, but try as I may my googling seems to be coming up blank.

Do any of you know of any reputable companies / individuals that would be able to make a bespoke Tonneau for me? That's not too far away?

    Cheers

    Jason

Re: Coach Trimming / Tonneau Covers in Northants

I'm resurecting this thread, as I still haven't managed to get a tonneau made for Vikki.

I've now found several trimmers in the Northants region (MK, Daventry or Wellingborough - Nothing in Northampton...) But they all seem (too me) to be very expensive when asked for ball park figures based on pics of the car - all of them are in the £5-600 region.

Does this seem reasonable? They're all quoting on double duck / mohair, split passenger & driver side panels (with a zip down the middle so I can close one side up if i'm the only one in the car) and fitting. They all say they need the car for a couple of days, which gives me an idea of the labour involved. It just seems expensive for what is such a small cockpit.

Anybody got any other contacts for this sort of work?

    Ta,

    Jason

Jason, I had my hood and tonneau cover totally recut and fitted by these guys who are in Witney when it was made wrong by Marlin who I never got much help from, plus they make them as well. Very good company but are incredibly busy so you will have a bit of a wait.
As a land Rover specialist, we can manufacture all types of hoods in canvas or mohair as well as supply frames. We also do bespoke upholstery, full retrims or

All Wheel Trim did an excellent job in modifying the hood and the tonneau cover plus they fitted the metal hoops to the car which hold up the hood, drilled and fitted the lift the dot fasteners to the car. The glass in the windscreen was removed and cut down so that lift the dot fasteners were fitted to the top of the metal surround of the screen. This makes a better fitting than the method Marlin used. All in all quite a bit of work.
They charged me £648 ( inc vat ), £72 was for cuttting the screen down.
To make and fit a tonneau cover only for you would be much cheaper.
The day I went to get an estimate he was off to measure up a private jet for fitting. He also does work for several F1 teams, much in demand but not too expensive.
