      Re: fiat twin cam

i used to have a strada 105TC ! only a 1600cc but what a car! I sold it after a ford anglia with body-filler and chicken wire wings ran into the back of it and got a golf GTi - I preferred the strada by miles - a much better drive! Wish I still had it! The lancia beta et al is a similar lump. If rebuilding one, dont forget the water pump and balance shaft have to be timed up as there is very little room between the conrods and anything else iirc.

          Re: fiat twin cam

          Hi Anthony,
Like Hugh above, I run a Fiat twin cam, 1800 with twin idf carbs. For some research start with wikipedia http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fiat_Twin_Cam_engine
The last rear wheel drive configuration was the Argenta. All the Lancia options are front wheel drive (except Monte Carlo - mid engined). These can easily be converted to RWD though. BEWARE...the later Lancia models such as Croma, Delta, HF etc. had the inlet and exhaust swapped around. This makes them unsuitable for roadsters due to steering column clearance. Really, you should look for an engine from a Fiat 124, 131, 132 or Argenta and go for the 1600, 1800 or 2000. If you want anymore advice then please feel free to contact me at jon.cox(at)blueyonder.co.uk
There are many specialists still about such as Guy Croft. I also get parts from red mist racing (Ebay). Worth while checking out the Morris Minor tuning boys as they were a popular fit as an upgrade.
Found this with a little search http://www.rodsnsods.co.uk/forum/stuff-sale/fiat-twin-cam-engine-box-11728
          May still be available.

          - I have no idea what I am talking about........ but my advice is always free! -

            Re: fiat twin cam

            I have a tooth from a hen.

I have a standard (originally 90bhp)1600 cc Fiat Twin Cam and gear box from a 131.

It's not for sale, It's free. See the classifieds.

It's been on offer before, for a contribution (no matter how low) to the Marlin Owner's Club funds. There were no takers.

It was going to go into my Roadster but a FWD 2 litre Lancia came my way and it was abandoned. The Lancia has a longer stroke on the same pistons and a 'tuftrided' crankshaft so I just had to use it.

It's largely complete but is definitely not a fit and forget item although very far from being scrap metal. For instance, there's no clutch or distributor. It's worth someone's effort to restore it. I am moving house next week and taking it with me. I might get around to rebuilding it myself but with so many fingers in so many pies I might never do so therefore it could do with a new home.

              Re: fiat twin cam

Hi there, using a fiat 2000 tc in a roadster, what is the recommended rear axle to keep the revs in the sensible range? Gearbox is fiat 5speed. We started with a Marina 1.8.
