hi all,my old voltage stab. is u/s will feeding 12 volts to temp.gauge make it read high?.

The stabiliser on the back of the speedo provides 10V by switching the current on and off using a bimetallc strip.
Pretty crude but as it was designed before semiconductors were cheaper, but it did the job.
Now 40 years on semiconductors are cheap.

The quick way is to buy ebay item 280624024425 it comes with all the connectors needed and can be mounted in place of the standard Lucas unit.Comment
