  • voltage stab.

    hi all,my old voltage stab. is u/s will feeding 12 volts to temp.gauge make it read high?.
    is there a diagram for a electronic version?.
    thanks for any info.

      The stabiliser on the back of the speedo provides 10V by switching the current on and off using a bimetallc strip.
      Pretty crude but as it was designed before semiconductors were cheaper, but it did the job.
      Now 40 years on semiconductors are cheap.
      Ken555's version ideally needs a couple of capacitors to work reliably. Ref http://www.maplin.co.uk/Media/PDFs/Module%207937.pdf
      The quick way is to buy ebay item 280624024425 it comes with all the connectors needed and can be mounted in place of the standard Lucas unit.
