During my Berlinetta rebuild I intend to try and pick everyone’s brain for solutions some simple some not so simple. I built my first Berlinetta in 1985, which I sold in 1996 after doing over 70000 miles, so I am not unfamiliar with the car. Today’s question, has anyone got any detail of the washers that are welded to the front cross member where the tie bar goes through? I have stripped 3 cross members recently and these fixed washers are always rotted away. Can I get new washers or does anyone have any detail so I can make some.

Re: Cortina tie Bar washers
Hi Phil,
My tie bars just have a reinforced hole in the subframe through which they are attached. There is a nut and large washer either side with a rubber bushes (I have superflex)either side of the subframe squeezed by the two nuts and two washers. There is a crush tube down the centre of all this to allow the correct tightening torque figures. This sets the castor angle so adjustment nees to be pretty precise. I have seen the various parts advertised at the "oldpartsstore.net/partslist.htm". Try them; they might have the bits you require.Marlin Berlinetta 2.1 Efi
