What sort of fuel line are you using at present? I had to replace some of mine and used strengthened stuff where the rubber had metal strips weaved into it. It isn't braided but is very thick and serves the purpose nicely.

I doubt you need braided, just replace with pipe you can get from your local motor-factor, it's possible that the pipe is original from the 70's? Bound to perish after a while I'd reckon.
