I have my eye on a set of 7in alloys and have the choice of 15 or 16in rims. With the recent hike in fuel costs the larger ones are tempting as they will increase the gearing (Rover V8). Anyone know if the 16in ones will fit without problems?

I am running 205/55 Toyo Proxes T1R on Fox 3 EVO 6.5Jx16 H2 Alloys. The speedo reads about 10% fast compared withh my sat nav so I think 205/60s would be the correct size to use. My tyres are shall we say a bit near the edge of the wings so I think that 7" would be well outside. The 16" wheels will allow you to use larger diameter disc brakes.

Don't forget that in general if the rim size goes up the tyre profile has to go down to keep the same rolling radius and to keep the steering geometry correct (contact patch of tyre relative to steering swivel axis). Associated with this is the other "must" that the offset of the wheel must be correct for the vehicle suspension or you will get some very unpleasant steering characteristics.

Make sure the centre hole will go over the hub centre.
I have a wheel that is 60 thou too small. I suspect it is for a FWD.
