    Re. Situations Vacant.

I see in the (Oct- Nov) borrowed Pitstop (hope mine arrives soon) there is a request for an applicant for a permanent Editor for Pitstop.

Pitstop had a very competent and enthusiastic Editor. Who, if reading Forum, is a guide most members would like to see back doing the job. Lee writes in this issue of Pitstop that he regarded Sue and Bob as close friends, who he has known for most of his adult life. So doesn’t it seem a shame that this should still be going on? The MOC misses out because every one digs their heels in and no one can or will say sorry.

May I make a suggestion and ask the Committee to send Sue a bunch of flowers with a note from the MOC members thanking her for all her work in the past and asking her to retake the Editor’s post.

    Keith.

        Re: Situations vacant

You may need to speak to Sue first. I think she may well have a set of pre-conditions unless there are some significant changes in the MOC structure.

Some form of recognition of both Sue and Bob's services to the club would not go amiss.
My suggestion of an annual "Roedel - Cawte Cup", awarded to those who have contributed most to the membership of the MOC, in a given year, was ignored by every single committee member.

          Hi Steve
Thanks for your comments I am sure you are right Sue would have conditions if she retook the editor post for Pitstop, but wouldn’t it be nice to ask her and find out?
The bunch of flowers was meant as a thank you for work done for the club from the club members, but I feel your suggestion of a Cup (trophy) would be a nicer idea.

I was a little surprised that you had no feed back from any of the committee.
What happens when one of them retires from the committee after giving their time and service to the club for free. Do they just walk away without a thank you from the club?

Tim Hawkesworth has just given up the Membership Sec. post through ill health. Isn’t there a way of saying thank you from the club as a whole? (A bottle of Scotch or what ever would be nice, I am sure the club could afford it). Maybe a response from a committee member could clarify this, that is if they read this.

          Keith

This posting on Forum is in no way critical of Dave Cunnington, I think he has done a very good job on the Oct-Nov. Pitstop but he did say he was only acting editor.
Yes I now have my own Pitstop!

Hi Guys and Girls, It take a REAL man/woman to "say sorry" I think it is about time that this whole subject put to rest. Lee if you are the man I think you take control, send the biggest bunch of flowere the club can afford and get sue back where she belongs. As "the best editor the club has ever had! SUE we need/want you back!!!!!!!!

              Hi Len

I think the majority of club members will agree with you, but don’t hold your breath.
As Steve says he never had a response from the committee about his suggestion for a trophy. It is also hard to believe that no member of the committee has read these Postings. In my last posting I asked for a comment from any committee member but as you can see NO response so far. I hope this does not mean that the committee will ignore any suggestion put forward by a member if it doesn’t meet with their approval.
It would have been nice to say we will meet up again at the Winter Shindig next year
as we have previously, but now I feel there will be an unpleasantness if this has not been sorted. So I am not sure whether to go next year, but we must meet up again soon.

              Best regards Keith.

                Gents (whether Members or not),
I am dismayed that you consider the current committee has no regard for the exceptional contribution to the Club made by any of those who have recently chosen to resign from their committee posts.
Suggesting ideas amongst yourselves without consideration of the issues involved and speculating on a situation of which your understanding is incomplete in order to bait the committee into coming forward is a distraction we could currently best do without.
This is not the place to go into detail but I firmly believe that the committee is dealing with matters with the utmost of thought and integrity to protect both the interests of Members and the long term stability of the Club.
                Thank You.

                      John,
unless the MOC committee representatives start to communicate to the members through this 'Discussion Forum', then members can only speculate on what the committee is doing. I think the suggestions posted above were probably genuine ideas from MOC ordinary members to the committee for consideration and review. Maybe there are good reasons for the committee to reject these ideas but I think members deserve a response from somebody. I have also posted a question on Website Access issues which has had no response from any of the current committee members.
There is no need to reply to this comment, thanks.
                      Peter

                        Hi John
If club members can’t comment or discus matters concerning the club on the Club Forum page of its website where else can one discuss and voice views?
My first posting was a suggestion that flowers could (should) be sent to Sue as a way of a thank you from the Club. Also if the post of editor is still open, as suggested in Pitstop, it would be nice to ask her back; there was NO criticism of committee in any way.

If asked, I would give my backing to the committee. I applaud their work for the Club which they give freely of their time and effort, (which also led to the suggestion of a bottle of Scotch or some thing for Tim). How this can be interpreted as a criticism of the committee beats me.

A response from the committee giving some sort of view for or against the suggestion was all that was required. Your late response, saying the Forum is not the place to go into detail is UNhelpful, and can only fuel speculation. So I ask once again, where else can a member ask questions and make suggestions if not on the club’s own website? (This begs the question: if what you say is right why do we need a new website?)

Yes I would like to see an end to speculation and put this to bed. However, the committee must be more open and not see conspiracies in postings from concerned members. If the issues and matters that we do not understand are not explained to the members, by the committee, then only speculation exists.

I would like to end this posting by saying all members views are valid and should be take seriously by the committee, unless rude or childish, then they should be ignored.

There is no agenda in this, as I have only met Sue on a couple of occasions, at the Shindig and only to say hello to, but it was your table that I was sitting at, and I haven’t any agenda there either.

                        Kind Regards Keith.

Ps This was written before I seeing Peter’s comment. It looks like we are both in agreement.

                          Hi John.
As a committee member, perhaps you can comment as to why I have still to recieve copies of the minutes as requested back in August.
It is difficult to come to any other conclusion than the Committee are deliberately witholding information.

If the Committee deserve the support of the membership, then they have an obligation, in a demoncratic club, to act in a manner that demands and merits respect.

I woud be interested to see, before tha AGM, clear statements of policy from each candidate for the Committee, outlining their vision for the future of the MOC. Such policies could be published on a members only area of the forthcoming forum and would enable club members to make informed voting decisions.

                              Hi Keith,
I feel that an explaination is due to you and other members on this posting.
What has happened in the past regarding a retiring committee member is that a presentation is held at the AGM.
It has been the norm during the years that I have served that engraved glassware is presented on behalf of the membership to the retiring member. I can fully understand that only members who have been able to attend past AGM meetings would be aware of this practise. Please be assured that there is no intention to ignore any members opinion or request and that I and others would very much like to see this very sad situation resolved.
                              Regards Danny.
