Those are all the individuals who have ever logged in or registered on the old and new forums since around 2003. About 40 have registered in the past 5 days
The vast majority of your total have never posted, have a look at the members list in community and you will find many users like the ones posted in the Rogue Users thread.
There are also several members and past users who have registered several times, presumably through changed email addresses and forgotten passwords.
To get a current grand total of all members you need to talk to the membership secretary but we had 552 at May 2011MOC member since 05/97
