Does anyone know where the name Marlin came from?

I know the first cars were designed and built by Paul Moorhouse and started in 1979, but why did he call his company Marlin Engineering?

Pete, It has probably nothing to do with it but in the early 60s, AMC (Nash Rambler etc) decided to design a 2+2 sports tourer in order to go upmarket. The initial idea was the "Tarpon" which was shelved. The Marlin was eventually produced and sold a a fair number of cars. Maybe Paul saw these and liked the name for his new company.
Oddly enough AMC also had plans to build a "Javelin"! All quite a cooincidence.

That sounds like a fishy story, did it end with a shotgun wedding?
      Best I could do, sorry!

Is the club still in touch with Paul, he is after all our Hon President?
Presumably the club sends him copies of Pitstop etc. and invites him to MOC functions.
