    Engine mounts

I have just replaced the old engine mounts on my Pinto engined Berlinetta (they were well past there sell by date) with new ones from Car builder solutions, everything fitted fine, but these new mounts seem very hard and create significantly more vibration in the car. has any one got any recommendations / suggestions?

HI CHris, the old mounts were probably past their best and would necessarily have been spongier than new ones. I have some CBS ones designed for the rover V8 under my 2.0 DOHC and they seem fine. If yours dont settle then I would give Neil at CBS a ring and see what he suggests, he knows everything!

Hi, check the state of the gearbox mount and the head to bulkhead rail clearance. The mounts will "give" a little after a few heat cycles.

Thanks for the tips about the heat cycles, useful! - I have removed the gearbox mount and its in fair condition, and there is plenty of clearance between engine and bulkhead
