  • Petrol Gauge

I have a standard 12.5 gallon tank which I fitted as part of the Cabrio kit in 1997. It has always been a problem because it only registers just over half full when i fill the tank. How can I calibrate the Gauge (standard Marlin Gauge)from kit? Any suggestions welcome.

    Re: Petrol Gauge

Firstly remove the wire from the tank sender and hold it on the chassis or an earth with the ignition on and see if the gauge goes to full, if so your gauge is ok.
Remove the tank sender and conect the wire on and with the ignition on move the float arm up and down (empty - full) and see if the gauge corresponds to the movment of the arm to show full, if so then your float arm may just need bending down to help move the arm further up the scale when the tank is full. If all fails if you get a multimeter and and take a reading of ohms on the sender terminals from empty and full and speak to a gauge supplier who will adjust ypur gauge or make one that suites your sender.
