  • Front Coilovers

Hi I am in the process (slowly) of stripping the body panels etc. of my recently aquired cabrio for a re-paint. Whilst it is "nude" I intend to replace a few bits.
Can anyone advise me on replacement coilovers, are they standard parts from mainstem suppliers?
The other thing is where can I find some new "P" section sealing strip for between the body panels, preferably coloured, either white or blue?
    Thanks in advance.

Try www.woolies-trim.co.uk for your P section trim.

      Re: Front Coilovers

      Hi Jools
I have recently replaced the front coilovers on my Cabrio. I purchased these from Dampertech, part no from memory is GP6 1338 but If i can find the invoice I'll confirm that number. Took approx 3 weeks as they are not a 'shelf' item and cost is around £140 the pair [springs are extra at around a further £30]
Try 'Woolies ' for the 'p' section

Hi Jools for the shockers try Gaz Shockers www.gazcoilovers.com these are your best bit, also perhaps you can get yours rebuilt by them, I think Alan Hogg had this done a few weeks ago on his Cabrio.
As for the P piping try woolies trim and vintage supplies these are the supplies to all the trimmers.
Have you got any pictures etc of your progress it would be nice to see, also do you have a build manual ? if not give me a shout and I will send you one over.
        Regards
        Lee

            Re: Front Coilovers

On the subject of springs, what is the generally accepted spring to use on the rear?
I have a pair straight from a 2.0 Ghia auto, and even with the marlin spring seat adjuster screwed right up, the rear sits too high.

Are there different grade coils for the rear?

Sorry to hi-jack the thread, but it is directly related!

Hi Mike please see pictures of my cabrio, no trouble with speed humps etc and when you get a tank of fuel in and a body its fine.

Thanks for the replies guys, much appreciated. I have a build manual thanks to Mike. I will endeavour to post some piccies as I progress. One side is stripped, I guess the trickiest (longest) job is removing the rear tub, but hey ho i'm in no great rush.
