  • Fuel Tank

The fuel tank on my Marina based Roadster is well past its best and probably only held together by rust and paint. One good thump on the underside and the entire contents would be dumped in the road. If I remember correctly the tank came from a MkII Escort van. A few years ago I tried to source a replacement but couldn't find one that wasn't in even worse condition. Even YKC, who were still just operating then, looked for me but with no luck. I know I can get an alloy tank fabricated but I thought I would just check if anyone else has had this problem and what they decided to do. I seem to remember the issue of plastic tanks being discussed on the forum a while back but with no real conclusion on their legality. Any ideas or input appreciated.

    Hiya Geoff

One of our members, John Brice, found a company that still makes them at a reasonable price.

I will contact him today to find out who he used and the rough cost.

I have tried newcarpartsnext day but they said that they didn't have any and would remove the item from their web site.

          Try http://shop.aircooledandclassics.co....state-van.html#

they may be able to help.

OK they are as rare as hens teeth but a guy is getting back to me and he may have one for £92 including VAT and Postage.

You may have to jump at this one quickly.

Who I have had dealings with in the past and they recon they could produce an 11 gallon tank in alloy with a filler neck and sender plate welded in for £200 inc VAT and delivery.

You may want to go down that route.

                  Re: Fuel Tank

I have a new alloy tank approx 8 gallon that was made for a roadster no mounting flange but complete with s/s mounting straps. Made for a roadster last year but never fitted.

Thanks for checking this out for me. The one on carz2 seems to have disappeared but I'm interested in the £92 one when the guy gets back to you.
