    The threaded stud is welded into the chassis. The top nut you refer to is only used to lock the spring seat in position, once you have adjusted the spring seat to the correct position. So from the top down you should have a large locknut,spring seat, bump stop mount.

    I added a further locknut on mine to lock the bump stop mount to the end of the stud as it had a tendency to work loose.

      Many thanks John, you have confirmed what I hoped was the case.

      Interesting the disparity between the two sides - or maybe not from what I've heard of some Marlin builds !
