Text of an email supposedly from DC received today

Good Morning,

This message is coming to you with great depression due to my state of discomfort. I came down here to Manila, Philippines with my family for a short vacation but unfortunately, we were mugged and robbed at the park of the hotel where we stayed. All cash, credit cards and Mobile phones were stolen off us but luckily for us we still have our lives and passports.


We've been to the embassy and the Police here but they're not helping issues at all and our flight leaves in less than 12hrs from now but we are having problems settling the hotel bills and the hotel manager won't let us leave until we settle the bills about £2,550 (GBP) . Can you help us out? Get back to me immediately to let you know the easiest way to get the fund to us.

Haven't seen that good old scam for a while !
Calling it a "vacation" rather than holiday and "settling" rather than paying hotel bill points to it originally being aimed at US citizens.
My wife had all money & passports stolen in Spain. Embassy sorted everything out. Insurance covered every penny lost. I sent £200 cash via Western Union to tide her over for a few days.

Not exactly a scam but an agency who charge £40 fee to tax your car on-line !

Thanks for your concerns guys, sorry you've been troubled

As in other threads, I'm trying to sort it.

Seems that they've diverted/intercepting my emails so I'll stick to the phone for now !
